You can experience Morinville's culture and heritage by taking a walk into the past on the new self-guided Walking Tour. The tour moves from vignettes and founder's monument in St. Jean Baptiste Park, to the stained glass beauty of St. Jean Baptiste Church built in 1907, to historic homes dotted throughout the downtown area. The adjacent rectory offers a pleasant diversion from today's hectic pace.

 

The Musee Morinville Museum, located at 10010 - 101 Street (opened in March) includes exhibits demonstrating Morinville as a reflection of the true Canadian Spirit. Experience how Canada's origins as a bilingual nation affected the development of this multicultural community with Francophone roots. Take in the bilingual exhibits and illustrations of the faith and tenacity of Morinville pioneers, nestled in a cluster of three provincial historic sites including the former Notre Dame de la Visitation Convent, St. Jean Baptiste Church and the St. Jean Baptiste Rectory. Come and celebrate Morinville's cultural heritage at Morinville's St. Jean Baptiste Festival on June 26th, 27th and 28th! This festival will expose our community to fun days, celebrating our history through music, traditional foods, activities and displays.

 

This summer enjoy our beautiful parks, excellent sports facilities, paved walking trails or spend the day fishing at our annually stocked Fish and Game Pond. For some real action join us as the Morinville and District Agricultural Society host the annual Tearin’ up the Turf Bullarama on Saturday, August 8th.

 

This winter come and celebrate the holiday season at our annual Morinville Christmas Festival on November 28th. This family oriented festival is full of activities for the whole family to enjoy from breakfast with Santa, to crafts and entertainment. The day's many activities will culminate as we "Lite Up the Nite", through the Christmas Parade, lighting of the trees and continue with a breathtaking fireworks display.
