Chipman Historical Foundation


The Chipman Historical Foundation was formed to undertake and ensure the preservation of the natural, civil, literary, economic, ecclesiastical, and socio-cultural history of the Village of Chipman in the province of Alberta. The Historical Foundation is committed to establishing and maintaining collections of art, archaeology, economy, bibliography, architecture, memorabilia and related items; to acquire, by purchase, gift, devise or otherwise the title to or the custody, control and preservation of, historic spots and places, buildings and sites of historic interest in the Village of Chipman; and to foster and maintain an awareness of and appreciation of the history of the Village of Chipman for present and future generations of village residents, students in Alberta and across Canada, and all those interested in Canadian history.

Events:  Pyrogy Plate offered during the Car Crafters Show 'N' Shine held each year on the first Sunday in June. Full or half plates of pyrogies, kubbie bits, lazy cabbage rolls, sour cream and onions. Dinner is served in the basement of the Chipman National Hall = 4715 - 50St. A pancake breakfast is prepared by the Chipman Seniors prior to the car show and during this event, visitors may view the Historical Hall as well as the 3 churches located in Chipman that are part of the 47 churches located in Lamont County.

Hours:  11:00 AM to 4:00PM

Admission:  Full plate $10.00 - Half Plate $5.00   cash only

Gifts Shop:  Historical Tapestry and postcard during Show 'N' Shine

Handicapped Access:  not available at the National Hall
