Highway 15 – The Heritage Highway
This Kalyna Country tour is unique in that after passing through Fort Saskatchewan on Highway 15 it is entirely in Lamont County so we have included a little bit of Hwy 45 to complete the loop. Grand County Circle Tour: Starting in the Town of Lamont (on Hwy 15), visit the Lamont Health Care Centre to see the mural that depicts the long history of health care in this area. Take in some of the craft and antique stores on main street. Continue on Hwy 15 to the Village of Chipman where you can visit three of the County's churches and see the war remembrance mural by the cenotaph (each face on the mural is that of a fallen soldier). On to the Town of Mundare and a visit to the Basilian Fathers Museum, Grotto and Monastery. There are also several beautiful craft stores here. And don't forget to see the world's largest sausage! Continuing north to the Village of Andrew on SH 855, the giant mallard is another of the world's largest. Other attractions include the CP Station/ Museum, wonderfully preserved grain elevator and craft/antique stores. Travelling west on Hwy 45 you can spend some time in the Limestone Lake area (by Rge Rd 175). Continuing west, the Skaro Shrine, the site of an annual pilgrimage on August 14 and 15 of each year, is located at the junction with SH 831. At the junction with Rge Rd 202 you will see the old Jaroslaw School on the south side. Staying on Hwy 45 into the Town of Bruderheim, visit the old Walker School and then continue on Hwy 45 to its junction with Hwy. 15.

Lamont County – Church Capital of North America
Lamont County is the Church Capital of North America. Visit the historic cemeteries, check them out during your day trip or from the comfort of home via our website. The Bruderheim Natural Area, just north of the Town of Bruderheim on Rge Rd 205, is a mecca for birdwatchers and hikers. The treasure in this 960 acres of upland sand dunes and lowland wetlands include abundant wildlife, 92 recorded species of birds and over 140 flowering plant species. Whitford Creek Wetland Preserve has 160 acre wetland that provides habitat for a wide variety of wildlife species. Signed trails, boardwalks and elevated viewing platforms complete this lush marshland. Take your binoculars and walking shoes for hiking the trails at the Parkland Conservation Farm.

Bruderheim – Home of the Brethren

Chipman – Explore Coyote Country
The village of Chipman proudly proclaims itself as “Coyote Country”. The Edmonton Soaring Club operates out of Chipman and offers bird’s-eye views from the cockpit of a plane on one of their introductory flights. For all those car lovers, attend Chipman’s Car Crafters Car Club Annual Show n’ Shine held in June. Mundare – Small Town with a Big Heart
Mundare is home to the world’s largest Ukrainian Sausage. The town is renowned for its great tasting Kubasa produced by the Stawnichy family for years. The many small craft and quilting shops located in Mundare really add a touch of country living to the town.
