Agricultural Diversification/Rural Tourism Development Opportunity

Four workshops will be held at locations around Kalyna Country.

This series of workshops will assist producers with information on:

· How to work in a cluster of similar operators for cooperation, cross-promotion and effective marketing. You will learn about our successful Ag-Tourism projects and clusters, and how you can benefit from this.

· How to better understand Ag-Diversification, Ag-Tourism and the growing trend for Agricultural /Rural “Circle Tours”.

· How to take advantage of trends such as Farm Direct Marketing, The 100 Mile Diet, and regional cuisines, with local producer sales & showcase events.

· How to receive key information on regional resources for Ag-Diversification and Ag- Tourism from Alberta Agriculture and Travel Alberta.

· New marketing opportunities to promote local products and producers.

· The development of the Kalyna Brand strategy, and how agricultural operators can benefit from this

Resource staff will be present at each workshop to provide information on local municipal,
Community Futures and Alberta Agriculture programs & services.

Plan to attend if you are:

ü An operator engaged in locally made/grown products & produce or processing – livestock, meats or other animal products, u-picks, market gardens, greenhouses, grains, wines, herbs, fruits, vegetables, perogies, etc, or artists/artisans, guest ranches, etc…

ü An Ag society or community event coordinator for:

o A) food-related events such as pumpkin/garlic festivals, corn roasts, community suppers or farmers markets.

o B) Agri–educational workshops & experiences.

ü An operator interested in diversifying or providing a rural experience to visitors.
