Lamont County Doors Open – Expanding in 2009

The history of Lamont County reaches back more than a century and has become something of an iconic legend as the regions 47 churches rise proudly above the prairie landscape. They stand as monuments to the rich spiritual heritage of the pioneering culture of the late 19th and early 20th settlers from eastern Europe who travelled long and perilous journeys to make this part of east central Alberta their new home. The region showcases the architectural styles, bell towers, interior details of glistening chandeliers, and meticulous works of art. Take family and friends to enjoy the weekend as you travel in and around the Villages of Andrew, Bruderheim, Lamont, Chipman, Mundare and St. Michael.

In 2009, Kalyna Country & Lamont County have worked together to expand this event so the whole Lamont County region and its Communities and businesses can benefit from the increased traffic and visitors. In 2008 over 1000 people participated county wide visiting over 25 locations. Travel Alberta Staff who went with their families commented that ‘Doors Open was the highlight of their summer!’
