Westlock is a friendly community located a mere forty-five minute drive from St. Albert at the junction of highways 18 and 44. Known as the “Best Bloomin' Town in the West” the Community takes pride in their hanging baskets, the Petunia Tree located downtown, and the beautiful gardens in and around Town.
Westlock has two museums to visit. The Canadian Tractor Museum features the world's largest working weather vane complete with a vintage tractor balancing on the top of a 60 foot pole - a must see when you visit our community.
The Westlock Pioneer Museum has four unique collections. The Bernard Wiese Gramophone exhibit opened in 2008 and is one of the most extensive collections in Western Canada with over 150 working machines and assorted memorabilia. The Trueblood Family firearm exhibit contains 100 vintage guns and numerous types of ammunition. Most of the firearms can be traced back to local homesteaders. The Max & Mary Wiese Aladdin lamp collection is one of the museum’s most popular. There are over 140 lamps in mint condition so it will be a challenge to pick your favourite. The Mildred Hay collection opened in 2010 and includes nearly 300 dolls on display from throughout the years; including Barbies, Kewpies and porcelain collectibles.
Fishing and water sports are within a short distance of the community and camping is available in town, as well as at Long Island Lake and at the Westlock Golf Course; a well treed 18-hole public course winding along the Wabash Creek. For the adventurous, there are opportunities for skydiving at the Westlock Municipal Airport, paintball in Westlock County, as well as the Action Sports Park featuring 13,655 square feet of bowls and challenges for skateboarding, in-line skating and BMX.
