Located 2.5 hours northeast of Edmonton (Hwy. 36 north from Hwy. 28, or Hwy. 55 east from Hwy. 63) this area is perfect for weekends or extended visits, with a vibrant history, natural beauty and exciting activity. Lakeland Provincial Recreation area offers Alberta’s only backcountry canoe circuit, all types of trails, as well as excellent camping and fishing. Enjoy lakeside views at the Lac La Biche Golf & Country Club. Nearby, explore Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park, Alberta’s only island park.

Notre Dame des Victoires (the Lac La Biche Mission) offers bilingual tours of their historic buildings and demonstrations of life in pioneer days. Hylo-Venice Harvest Days features the culture and tradition of the French, Italian and Ukrainian communities that came together in this area. Kak Ki Yaw Cultural Camp and the Kikino Métis Settlement's events will enlighten and amaze you with the lifestyle and traditions of the region's Aboriginal communities. Nearby, Plamondon will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in early July. Plamondon also offers a mini Nashville Jamboree, Mud Bogs and a Winter Festival of Speed.
