Thorhild is a small progressive community of 500 located 95 km northeast of Edmonton at the intersection of Highways 18 and 827, just off Highways 28 & 63. The shopping centre of an agricultural area, the village offers its residents and visitors the use of a library, museum, curling club, hockey arena, a community center and extensive rodeo facilities. Set up camp at the Thorhild Centennial Park Campground next to the outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and ball diamonds.

Thorhild hosts an indoor professional Bull-a-rama and Steak BBQ in April, as well as, one of the finest small town rodeos in northern Alberta. The Thorhild Stampede takes place on the July 1st weekend. The Sunflower Festival, held in August, has become a serious competition for the largest head, best arrangement, most blooms and the tallest plant. Enjoy a pancake breakfast and the entertainment.
               
Thorhild has one of the finest 3/8 mile oval tracks anywhere. Vintage motorcycle dirt “Flat Track” racing is a great way to enjoy old motorcycles and get some excitement into your life by racing or as a spectator. The Alberta Vintage Flat Track Association have four race dates throughout the summer.
               
For a step back in time be sure to visit the Thorhild Museum, which displays many fine antiques and momentos from the past. The museum is located in the Village Complex on 7th Avenue in Thorhild. For more information phone 780-398-3502 or 780-398-3569.
