Andrew, population of 465, is located on Highway 855, just south of its junction with Highway 45. The quiet life in a friendly village is treasured by all residents and visitors. The Village of Andrew and nearby Whitford Lake is named after Andrew Whitford, one of the first settlers in the area.

The village is also very proud to be the home of the Premier of Alberta, the Honourable Ed Stelmach.

The village offers many recreational amenities including a hockey arena and outdoor skating rink; four sheet curling rink; outdoor badminton and basketball courts; two lane bowling alley, sauna, hot tub, fitness room, multi-purpose meeting room and public library all in the combined school and village complex. Enjoy floor curling, mini golf, horseshoe pits and bocce ball at the Lions Club Mini Golf and Tourist Information facility. Playgrounds are located at the school and the Lions Park. Baseball diamonds are located at the Andrew Community Center next to a fully serviced RV park.

Centennial Park encompasses a large area with a wild flower garden, Japanese rock garden, memorial rose garden and a large gazebo used by musicians, choirs, dancers and other clubs and groups.

Andrew Sport Off is a popular event, as well as exploring the Andrew Grain Elevator Interpretive Centre, which is a favorite with bus tours. Be sure to visit them in August during their annual Corn Roast. For a great fall event, plan to attend the Garlic Festival in October.

The annual Remembrance Day ceremony has become a fitting tribute to the Canadian Forces. The involvement of General Support Battalion and Transportation Company and a fly-by done by 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron provide a proud Canadian moment for all present.

A must-see in Andrew is the World’s Largest Mallard Duck. It symbolizes Andrew’s location as a major flyway for water foul.
