The Vermilion Golf Club is a beautifully contoured nine hole, par 35 course with grass greens and a

driving range. The Golf Course is located south of the Highway 16 off ramp for Vermilion on Highway 41.

 

History buffs will want to tour Vermilion's Historic Downtown where many of the original brick buildings have been restored through the Alberta Mainstreet Programme. Pick up a copy of the Walking Tour Guide at the Visitor Information Centre or the Town Hall.

 

The Vermilion Heritage Museum has seven galleries that lead you through the pioneer experience from exploration and native artifacts to early settlement; businesses; agriculture; music; sports and more. Be sure to visit the Stavelock building where you will find a replica early settlers home.

 

Vermilion is proud to be the hometown of Olympic Gold Medalist Beckie Scott. Enjoy the cross-country ski trails that criss-cross the scenic river valley in Vermilion Provincial Park. The Park features a campground, wading pool, a trout pond, and mini-golf. Nothing beats a quiet walk along the river valley after a hectic day. Enjoy 23 kms of multi-use trails through aspen parkland and take a moment to watch for 100 resident bird species. The restored CN station in the Park is a gathering place for community & private functions, and serves as a ski chalet in the winter.

 

The new Vermilion Regional Centre is open for business and boasts a grand ballroom with a capacity for 600 guests, a fully equipped kitchen for professional caterers, an indoor playground and several multipurpose meeting rooms including a dance studio. If gardening is more your style, tour the Lakeland College award winning arboretum. While at the College enjoy the recreational facilities, which are open to the public. Facilities include an indoor pool, climbing wall, racquetball courts and fitness centre.

Vermilion is proud to be a Communities in Bloom National Award Winner. Every summer, gardens and parks come alive with colour as volunteers put their best foot forward. Vermilion has been very successful in the Communities in Bloom Competition. They first entered in 1999 and by the following year they were a 4 bloom Winner. Then in 2005 the town became a National 5 Bloom Winner and continuing as a 5 Bloom Winner once again in 2007 & 2008.
