With a population of 1233, Two Hills is truly a great small town with lots of potential. Two Hills got its name from the post office in the area that was named after a well known landmark - the two prominent hills on the western outskirts of the community. Two Hills is the “Gateway to the North”, a recognized travel route leading to Fort McMurray. The Town of Two Hills is described as the perfect getaway destination and a wonderful place to invest and live. The town has a wonderful blend of town and country, offering residents all the conveniences of urban centres while being nestled within an immense agricultural region. The region has a deeply rooted Ukrainian cultural history. Recently the arrival of many Mennonite families has contributed to the town's growth and diversity.
The Two Hills Health Centre provides emergency, acute and long term care and a renowned Stroke and Geriatric Empowerment Centre. The town has several doctors that work out of the Two Hills Medical Clinic. There is an active Seniors Centre located in town that hosts many events for the seniors in our community. In addition, the Town has seniors housing both in a lodge facility and self contained units. There are two schools in the community. The Two Hills School is a K-12 public school that has an excellent reputation for academic achievement and extracurricular activities. The Mennonite School also accommodates children from K-12.
The Town offers many recreational opportunities. The Two Hills Lions Golf and Country Club features a challenging 9-hole course that is the envy of other courses in Northeastern Alberta. Geleta Park includes the Centennial Hall, Hockey Arena, Curling Rink as well as ball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts, and a campground along the banks of the Vermilion River. The Two Hills indoor swimming pool offers lessons, fitness programs and swimming for our community. The Two Hills Fish and Game Association have a stocked trout pond and picnic area located just south of Two Hills.
The Two Hills Historical Society maintains a museum featuring items used by our ancestors in the area. They have recently constructed a gazebo that represents the history of the area through a collage of pictures. This will be an attraction for our residents as well as visitors to the area.
