When you visit Mundare for the first time, you're sure to be surprised by the numerous amenities it has for a town its size. Situated 20 minutes east of Elk Island National Park, Mundare is a growing community of just over 855 people located 2 km north of Highway 16.      Mundare is proud to be the home of the Basilian Fathers Museum, a world class facility of very unique design and an intriguing collection of artifacts that attracts over 5,000 visitors annually. 2002 marked the 100th Anniversary of the Basilian Fathers' arrival in Canada. A permanent exhibit - Service in the Vineyard of the Lord - has been prepared to commemorate this important event. It celebrates the lives of dedicated men and women who served the Lord by serving the Ukrainian people in Canada. It tells the stories of the monks, priests, bishops and nuns who devoted their lives to this service. The exhibit outlines the history of the Basilian order and traces the development of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canada from 1902 to the present time. Right next to the museum is the Ukraina Park Recreation Area, a fully serviced campsite and recreation area. The Park also provides wooded sites, shower facilities, a public telephone, picnic shelter and large fire pits. Perfect for any overnight stay!

The hard work of Mundare’s volunteers led to the 2003 win in the Communities in Bloom competition. During the Christmas season bus loads of visitors come to view the holiday and religious displays. Communities in Bloom and the Mundare Library sponsor the annual Christmas Parade and Christmas Craft Sale on the second Saturday in December. An active Seniors’ Centre Club hosts pyrogy suppers on the 3rd Friday of the month.
Mundare is famous for its Ukrainian Sausage. Stawnichy's Meat Processing has earned the reputation of having some of the best Ukrainian sausage in Canada. This family business is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year! Visitors can request a tour of the facility Tuesday through Thursday. The Stawnichy family set up a non-profit foundation that completed a 42 ft. high replica sausage and tourism rest area. The sausage, weighing 6 tonnes, is the only one of its kind in the world. Another exciting venture is Whitetail Crossing Championship Golf Course & Residential Development now open south of the Town. In mid-August you can enjoy the Mundare Agri-Daze Fair & Parade and the Annual Chicken Coop Quilt Show.  The show features local quilters and Kalyna Quilt Guild members works of art. The Chicken Coop has become a favorite destination for quilters and visitors alike. The store has a huge assortment for all of your gift needs and carries over 2500 bolts of quilting cottons, books, notions and patterns for all skill levels. One on one classes have become the way of teaching at the Coop.
