Located a short 30 minute drive east of Edmonton on Hwy. 15, the town of Lamont was described by settlers as “the nicest open country a person could wish for”. This progressive, growing community of over 1700 provides relaxed country living with all the amenities of a larger centre.
If you're looking for a one or two day excursion, Lamont is the place to visit. Take the opportunity to visit the Mohyla, located just north of town. Constructed in 1991, the Mohyla marks the centenary of Ukrainian settlement in Canada. Be sure to view the murals in the Lamont Health Care Centre, and gracing the north wall of the high school.
Lamont also has a number of art, antique, and craft shops that will both surprise and please you.
The Lamont Agricultural Society sponsors the Lamont Bullarama in April and the Lamont Summer Sizzler Rodeo in late July. With livestock shows, parade, midway, demolition derby and more it has something for the whole family.
Churches in Lamont are also participating in Doors Open. It is an annual event on June 6 & 7, 2009 to tour historic churches county wide.
