A city whose allure and vitality are rarely rivalled, this dynamic and warm-hearted community begs to be discovered! The City of Camrose is within a short drive of Wetaskiwin and Leduc, and is located within 45 minutes of the City of Edmonton and Edmonton International Airport.
Nestled in the heart of Alberta, Camrose is home to approximately 16,000 residents who regularly enjoy the Rose City's incredible system of parks & natural areas and world-class recreational facilities; including the new Edgeworth Centre, the Rudy Swanson Recreation Area, the Aquatic Centre & Spray Park, the Camrose Community Centre and Field House, and The Four Seasons Environmental Park & Interpretive Centre.
Visit the charming Mirror Lake Park in the heart of the city, and you may just happen upon a group of swans who make it their home. Golf the beautiful Camrose Golf Course, dating back to 1929, which winds through a captivating park setting and offers up a challenging game for the recreational and the seasoned golfer. Grab a coffee and take a tour of the historical downtown district which includes fascinating buildings dating back over 100 years. Since 2000, the Camrose Main Street Project has undertaken, in partnership with business owners, the restoration and enhancement of the facades of more than a dozen buildings in the Downtown including the Bailey Theatre, Candler Art Gallery, Cobblers & Craftsman, Lou's Fashions and Sole City Shoes.
While you're here, step back in time at Camrose and District Centennial Museum or the Canadian Northern Railway Museum - home to turn-of-the-century buildings, agricultural and railway paraphernalia.
Throughout its history, Camrose has been proud to host athletic competitions at provincial, national and international levels. Camrose has hosted major events in hockey, soccer, cross country skiing, baseball, fastball, luge, volleyball, basketball, biathlon, curling and precision skating. In 2008, Camrose hosted both the 2008 World Junior A Hockey Challenge and the International Continental Cup of Curling.
Summer in Camrose means great concerts and cultural events in the area. The internationally acclaimed Big Valley Jamboree Country Music Festival has been held in Camrose for 16 years and continues to entertain and delight fans of all ages.
Downtown Camrose hosts an annual Art Walk throughout the summer with a dozen venues and featuring approximately 60 artists. The Chuck MacLean Arts Centre is located by Beautiful Mirror Lake and often features local and visiting artists. It also hosts a creative summer program for children and drop-ins are welcome.
Come and stay for awhile - or indefinitely. Whatever you do, Camrose will make you feel at home.
