Straddling the Alberta-Saskatchewan border and represented by the world’s tallest border markers, Lloydminster has the distinction of being Canada's Border City and home to nearly 30,000 people. The bustling municipality has also been acknowledged by the Financial Post as the best small business centre in the country.

Initially a village, Lloydminster was split upon the inception of Alberta and Saskatchewan into Canada in 1905. Upon receiving its official charter on New Year’s Day 1958, Lloydminster became the 10th city in both provinces. It was established when 2,600 courageous Barr Colonists arrived from England in an epic journey led by Reverend Lloyd. The heartiness of its residents remains today. Learn the whole story at the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre.

For recreation, enjoy the Lloydminster Leisure Centre & Bud Miller All Seasons Park, and see North America’s Largest Working Sun Dial. The park is located at 59 Ave & 29 St. For information call 780-875-4497. The city is rich in attractions and is augmented by the new dynamic, multi-purpose Common Wealth Centre. It is a hub for sports and recreation, personal and professional needs. It is located at 5202 - 12 St. Hwy 17 south. For more information call 780-875-4529.

If golf is your passion, the Lloydminster Golf and Country Club is well ranked in both provinces. There are many challenging and fun courses around the city. For a real treat take your kids to the Zoo just east of the city on Hwy. 16.

A Terrific Destination for Visitors...
Located at the intersection of the Yellowhead Highway 16 and 40 Avenue is the Weaver Park Campground and the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre.

The Weaver Park Campground is a full service RV park located immediately south of the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre. The Park underwent significant improvements in 2008, adding new sites which include drive through and full service sites. Power is available up to 50 AMP and amenities include a concession, a shower house, and a sanitary dumping site. On site activities include experiencing the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre or playing a round at the mini golf course. For more information, visit www.lloydminster.ca/weaverpk.html or call 1-306-825-3726.

The Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre is a one of a kind facility with exhibits and attractions of several varieties, including a museum, art gallery, wildlife display, science centre, traveling exhibition space, and an outdoor heritage village. The Richard Larsen Museum houses many of the original items that the Barr Colonists used when they originally settled Lloydminster in 1903. Artifacts include agricultural equipment, household items and a collection of antique vehicles. Outside the building are several notable buildings, including Lloydminster's first church and a school built in 1906! The OTS Heavy Oil Science Centre is an interactive experience where you can gain a better appreciation for the oil field industry that has helped Lloydminster grow to be the City it is. The Imhoff Art Collection houses over 250 works by Count Berthold von Imhoff. Count Imhoff was renowned for his works and was commissioned for many church paintings, which provide a theme for the display. The Fuchs Wildlife Exhibit is thought to be North America's largest collection of taxidermy created by one man! The centre also hosts travelling exhibits from across Canada, so no two visits to the Centre are identical! See www.bchcc.ca or call 1-306-825-5655 for more information.

With Weaver Park as home base and the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre - a key destination, visitors can launch their Border City experience from one location. For more information about Lloydminster and all it has to offer visit www.lloydminstertourism.ca or call 1-800-825-6180.
